xiros® ball bearings in a plastic planetary gearbox

The xiros ball bearings are used in the planetary gears of a plastic planetary gearbox in a magnetic environment. The planetary gears work with the ball bearings at a close distance to the magnets. When the Savonius rotor rotates due to the effect of the wind, it forces the planet wheels to rotate both around themselves and around the central shaft. Increased rotations are transferred to the generator magnets via the sun wheel, as the crown wheel remains attached to the base. When the rapidly rotating magnets move close to the copper coils, electricity is generated.

Problem

spirowind saw the problem in the use of a planetary gearbox that had to function smoothly in a very compact generator. Non-magnetic ball bearings had to be used in order to utilise very strong neodymium magnets that rotate in the vicinity of rotating planetary gears. Metal ball bearings could have blocked the gearbox due to the magnetic influences.

Solution

The use of xiros plastic ball bearings with glass balls was the solution because the copper coils installed in the turbine to generate electricity produced a magnetic field. The use of non-magnetic plastic ball bearings allows all elements to rotate freely around the central shaft at various speeds, both the planet wheels and the magnets; and all this despite the very small installation space.
